Thesis
Impacts of fisheries and climate change on the trophic functioning of the world ocean: models and forecast

Current Research Topics
As a Ph.D. candidate, I am working with Didier GASCUEL (Ecology and Ecosystem Health Research Unit, Agrocampus Ouest, Rennes, France) and William Cheung (Changing Ocean Research Unit, UBC, Vancouver, Canada).

My current research focuses on the functioning of the food web induced by fisheries and global change. The objective of the project is to analyse and model the impact of changes in species assemblages on the global parameters of the functioning of marine food web.

The PhD investigates the three following questions:
- How do changes in species assemblages affect the functioning of marine food webs at each trophic level?
- What have been the consequences for the productivity and stability of marine ecosystems since 1950?
- What will be the consequences in 2050, under different scenarios of climate change?

This project is divided into three parts:

(i) Modelling and mapping of changes in kinetics and efficiency of trophic transfer on a global scale during the period 1950-2010.
(ii) Development of change scenarios of functioning of marine food webs on a global scale between 2010 and 2050 based on the models of primary production and species assemblages developed by W. Cheung.
(iii) Development of a global model to estimate biomass and production until 2100 incorporating the changes in trophic transfer induced by climate change.
